The delightful Daven has joined Team Troxy as an account manager. We sat down with him over a whisky and coke to chat events, negotiating with King Kong and London’s best fried chicken.
What brought you to Troxy?
Having worked at very corporate venues for several years, I wanted to mix it up and challenge myself somewhere that holds a wide variety of events.I’ve lived in London for most of my life apart from when I was studying up in Nottingham, so I know the city well.
What are you most excited about working on at Troxy?
I’m taking on all the indoor sports events here at Troxy. It’s a growing part of what we do and they keep me on my toes – which I love. I’m looking forward to developing them and bringing more outside-the-box events to Limehouse.
What do you love about working in events?
Firstly the fact that no two days are ever really the same. Also, there are always clients looking to do something new or add a twist to their existing event. I especially love seeing events start out as just an idea or a couple of lines in a brief and then be brought to life as a fully-fledged experience.
Your best gig of all time?
That’s a hard one as I’ve been to so many great ones but the one that has stuck with me the most was seeing Earthgang at XOYO in London. It was a great intimate gig, and afterwards I got a photo with Doctur Dot as well a high-five from Johnny Venus so I was pretty chuffed with that.
Best thing about living in London?
I have a love/hate relationship with London, there are things that drive me mad about it like commuting but at the same time I love that there’s always something fun to do!
Fave place to eat in London?
It’s got to be Chick ‘n’ Sours in Seven Dials Market! I love chicken and they just do it so right. They also have great sour cocktails like the Pisco Punch as well as an amazing watermelon salad that I order every time I go. They give you a little transferable tattoo with the bill and I asked them if I got a permanent version whether I could get some kind of discount. They said they would consider it but we couldn’t agree on what kind of discount it would be so….watch this space!
What’s your drink of choice?
I drink most things but a Whisky and Coke or an Old Fashioned are my go-to drinks.
As Troxy used to be a cinema…what was the last film you saw? And what’s your fave film?
Last film I saw was the new Lion King. Favourite film is a hard one because I have so many that I like.I would say it’s between Nacho Libre or Pulp Fiction…
You’re being chased by King Kong…how would you try and escape his clutches?
I’d have to get the big guy some primo bananas and hope to befriend him…then who knows maybe he would let me ride on his shoulders. It would make my commute a lot more interesting!
