If you haven’t heard of KERB Events then you may as well have been living under a rock. KERB Events has established itself as one of the leading event caterers in London. With a focus on high-quality food, creativity and innovation, KERB has been serving up delicious dishes for corporate events across the city for many years and we’re proud to have them as one of our accredited caterers.
KERB Events prides itself on offering a delicious and diverse range of cuisines to suit all tastes and dietary requirements, which is why they tick so many boxes as a catering option for our clients.
We spoke to KERB Events about their signature street food style, their social purpose and how KERB Events came to be the UK’s leading street food organisation…
So, how did KERB Events come about?
KERB started life on the streets of London when our founder Petra Barran began talent spotting and organising fellow traders from her choc-mobile, ‘Choc Star’, in 2009. The idea for KERB was basically incubated in an ice cream van! While scooping and shaking her wares, Petra spotted an opportunity to do something with all the talent and flavour she saw in her fellow traders.
The idea was to seek out the most exciting street food talent, bring them together on the kerbs of London and grow this dynamic but previously unorganised industry into something even greater.
What sets you apart from other event caterers?
We like to think of ourselves as ‘industry disruptors’ because we offer something that’s so different from ‘traditional event catering’ whilst still delivering brilliant food and exceptional hospitality. We reinvent, reapproach and reimagine food styles – it’s a key part of why we choose to work with the curated list of independent traders that we do. Every food trader within our roster offers a unique and signature flavour. Having an abundant choice sets us apart from your staple event caterer because we give you cuisine styles you didn’t know you needed!
Just like Troxy, we are proudly independent and that will remain at the core of our business. We celebrate and support other small, independent, owner-operated businesses – starting with our inKERBator programme, a free eight-week programme designed to give early-stage food businesses with raw talent but little experience, the chance to accelerate their growth (and eventually join us at KERB Events across the country).
We’re huge advocates for sustainability at all KERB Events. You won’t find anyone sipping from plastic straws or eating from plastic plates at one of our events – all of our traders use compostable materials and a proportion of our proceeds are donated to KERB’s social enterprise, supporting the inKERBator programme and wider impact partners.
As huge advocates of DE&I (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion), KERB recently appointed a new Purpose and Impact Manager, Priya Narain, who will continue driving forward the efforts towards a strong, supportive and inclusive workplace and trader membership. And if you need a quote please feel free to add this “At KERB, our people are our most important asset which is why we place a high value on our DEI efforts. We continue to strive towards becoming a welcoming and inclusive work environment so that everyone feels comfortable showing up being their true authentic selves.” – Priya Narain, Purpose and Impact Manager.
What has people coming back for seconds?
With so many tantalising dishes, from over 100 hand-picked traders, KERB Events are putting unrivalled flavour, excitement and variety on the menu. No two events are the same and the team are always on hand to help you curate your own menu, from Bian Dang’s bouncy bao buns, to Anna Mae’s perfectly portioned Mac N Cheese pots, Stakehaus’s tender bavette’s or Hash Huts crispy loaded hash browns. KERB has delicious options to not just meet, but to exceed expectations!
Each of our traders is master of their own menu, carefully selected for their talent, flavour and spirit.
What’s the next ‘course’ of action for KERB Events?
This year is looking to be an exciting year already with a variety of corporate events booked in at Troxy, and we’re really looking forward to bringing KERB’s signature street food styles to more guests and continuing to work with the venue to deliver exceptional events!
