We sat down with Elisa Alberici who’s our in–house Ticketing Manager to find out a little more about her…
So, tell us a bit about your background and when you joined Troxy…
I moved from France to London in 2017, and studied fashion design atRegents University which I absolutely loved, but unfortunately I ended up graduating during the pandemic. Our graduation ceremony was pushed back – it’s where a lot of employers come to see shows to hire new graduates, and because we had to cancel ours it meant a lot of us were left without work. I decided to go back to France for a while where I started my own sewing business which helped get me through the lockdown boredom. When I came back to London I got a job at Troxy in the box office and loved it because I’m a huge lover of music so it suited me really well. When there was some movement in the team. I got offered the position as Ticketing Manager, and I jumped at the chance.
What does your role entail?
My main job is to ensure tickets are selling for each of our events. I do a lot of the liaison between clients, customers, promoters and our in-house team. I help with the initial setup of the event, and make sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. As we have such a diverse range of events at Troxy, no day is ever really the same!
Have there been any stand out shows for you so far?
Too many actually! But a couple that stand out in particular was the Skrillex, Four Tet and Fred Again show we had here at the start of the year. As it was a surprise show we only had 3 weeks to set everything up, and as they are such big names we wanted to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The atmosphere here was electric! We’re so happy with how everything went, and I hope those guys decide to come back and play here again!
Another favourite was Black Veil Brides who played a sold out show recently. I love that kind of music so I was so happy to see they’d chosen us as their venue. They put on a great show and always have a great line-up of support acts.
What motivates you in your role?
For me, I think it’s being able to offer a unique experience to people who walk through our doors. We have such a diverse range of events that caters to everyone’s tastes – I love being part of a venue that can offer a different experience to a whole host of people. It’s the feedback we receive from people who visit the venue and say what an incredible night they had which makes it all worth it.
I’m also really proud that we are one of London’s largest independent venues, and because of this we can define our own set of rules, we don’t need to cater to any hierarchy or align ourselves with other venues, we can speak for ourselves and our values. The fact that we don’t take advantage of artists with merch fees for example. I think this is so important as we like supporting up and coming artists, not just the big name acts. Lesser-known artists rely on the support of merchandise sales and a lot of venues take a large cut. We’re proud that any artists that book with us receive 100% of their merch fees, and we’ll be keeping it that way.
If your friends could describe you in three words, what would they say?
I think they would say I’m a caring person, and highly passionate. I’m also very driven, so I think they would say I’m dedicated – If I’m going to do something, I set my mind to it and make sure I do the best I possibly can.
Tell us a fact about yourself….
I can speak three languages, as I’m part Italian, and then moved to France before going to a British high school. My accent is a bit of a mix of all three!
It always gets people but me and my partner have the same name, we’re both called Elisa and funnily enough we met by moving into the same apartment! We also have a cat called Klaus who’s 7 months old – he’s the cutest.
What’s next for you at Troxy?
Continuing helping to put on incredible events, ensuring we’re seeing more shows sell out – and generally helping to spread the word about what an amazing venue Troxy is. It’s the venue’s 90th anniversary this year, and we’re planning on putting on a great celebration. So watch this space!
