Troxy welcomed a very special guest through its doors in November 2019 for the Landscape Institute Awards which celebrate the achievements of landscape designers, managers and planners from across the world. Broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough was in attendance for the ceremony which included him being honoured with a lifetime achievement award. The room fell silent as Sir David gave his heartfelt acceptance speech, highlighting everyone’s responsibility to bring the realities of the natural world to the love and understanding of human beings.
Troxy’s multiple spaces helped make the awards a success on their debut at the venue. The lower level of the main hall was completely cleared for the formal dinner before the awards, with a total of 61 dining tables laid out across the upper and lower ground floors. Troxy’s in-house AV equipment was well utilised, with the main display screen showing the keynote speakers as they addressed the audience, and also the winning teams and individuals during the awards ceremony. In keeping with the environmentally-friendly ethos of The Landscape Institute, all the wines served were organic, and guests who wanted meat in their main course had to opt in, rather than the traditional approach of vegetarians and vegans being the ones asked to choose an alternative. A giant wall of living plants on Troxy’s main stage provided the perfect backdrop for the awards.
