London Grammar brought their 2014 If You Wait tour to a close at Troxy, one of the biggest concerts on a tour that saw their debut album turn platinum.
The sold-out gig at our place was the only London date on the 14-date UK tour. What made the night extra special was that our venue was chosen to film a video for the band’s upcoming single, making the most of Troxy’s art deco surroundings.
To complement the band’s ambient music, creative team Moomba Productions used a new piece of lighting technology – the Goldpix – to help create a magical atmosphere for the more than 3,000 ticket holders.
Never before used for a live show in the UK, Goldpix uses LEDs to create more intense beams than normal LED screens.
Grammy-nominated film director Giorgio Testi chose the Troxy concert to shoot the atmospheric video for London Grammar’s new single ‘Sights’. Using footage from the concert plus shots of the band sitting among the audience in our upper tier seats, it made a compelling piece of film.
The filming presented us with some challenges as the decision to use Troxy for the video was only made a few weeks before the event but because we are one of London’s few remaining independent venues we could allow the production team access before the day and work with them on the night to make sure they had the vantage points they needed.
