The cinch PCA (Professional Cricketers Association) Awards is a prestigious annual event dedicated to honouring the remarkable achievements of England and Wales’ finest Men’s and Women’s cricketers. These awards shine a light on the outstanding players who have gained significant achievements within the cricketing season.
This year’s event was managed in collaboration with award-winning events management agency, Awesome Events, and sponsored by cinch. This year’s awards celebrated at Troxy with 480 guests dressed to impress in black tie. Guests arrived at 6:30pm to a glamorous foyer decorated with a step and repeat and a Sky Sports media hub – set up to interview attendees on the 2023 season.
Guests were directed into the auditorium where they could make their way to a champagne drinks reception before taking their seats. The main auditorium was set out with 48 round tables with players situated front and centre to be closer to the action on stage.
Catering was organised by Boulevard Events, one of Troxy’s accredited caterers, who offered a traditional menu including pork belly, lamb, and vegetarian alternatives, served with dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables with a chocolate pudding for dessert!
The awards ceremony opened with the Chair of the PCA, James Harris, welcoming esteemed guests and players and outlined the evening’s activities. Sky Sports cycled through a roundup of summer cricket moments captured over the international and county men’s and women’s season.
The main awards ceremony began around 8:45 pm and consisted of 10 award category nominations including: cinch PCA Men’s and Women’s Young Player of the Year, and cinch Men’s and Women’s Players Player, with winners joining hosts Mark Butcher and Isa Guha on stage.
The traditional charity auction, hosted by Sky Sports Pete Graves, raised an impressive £20,000 for the Professional Cricketers Trust.
After the award ceremony, attendees enjoyed live performances by ‘Sway’ and a DJ to conclude the evening. A 360-style photo booth captured memorable moments for guests, serving as a perfect memento for the event.
The PCA utilised the full in-house production facilities, lighting, speakers, and Troxy’s extended stage. Troxy’s expert events team worked collaboratively with the PCA team to ensure the night was a perfect success. An external AV provider supplemented the event with additional communications equipment and auto cues.
Kathryn Ford, Head of Events, Professional Cricketers Association:
“We were really impressed with the flexibility that Troxy offered, it was a great space to be able to make our own. What’s great about the venue is that it offers no restricted views. Usually in an events space or larger venue, you have the issue of pillars being in the way, but we were happy that every guest in the audience had a perfect view of the stage”.
“It was easy to work with the event team and they worked well with the external AV partners we bought in for the extra features we wanted on the night.”
“The evening was a great success and we’re hoping to come back next year!”
