On 11th September 1933, Troxy showed its first ever film, King Kong, to an excited East End crowd.  The audience was thrilled by the venue and the buzz it created across the streets of Stepney and beyond.  As local resident, Ms Danvers, recalled, “It seemed like Hollywood had come to Commercial Road in all its glory.”  This month at Troxy we’re honouring this historic event and the significance of our beloved Kong by launching our very own beer with East London expert brewers, Signature Brew. Previous winners of the SIBA Brewery Business of the Year award, the team are on a mission to revolutionise the quality of beer at live events by collaborating with bands including Idles, alt-J, Slaves, Enter Shikari and over 25 other renowned artists.  

The Kong Signature Brew is a big and bold, dry hopped pale ale served in 330ml cans emblazoned with Kong’s steely stare and the Troxy logo.  It is available now from all of our bars, and our brilliant team can give you the lowdown on the Kong story too!
