Something to taco ‘bout – the street food revolution

It might sound cheesy but when it comes to eating we won’t mince our words… Our in-house kitchen means our clients can bring in whichever event caterers take their fancy and in the last few years we’ve noticed the appetite for street food nas overtaken the use of traditional caterers at corporate and private events. In fact according to a recent report by caterer.com, the value of UK street food markets stands at £1.2 billion; between 2017 and 2018 it grew 9.1%. Pho-tunately, team Troxy think street food is egg-cellent!

Sofishticated
Gone are the days when British street food meant greasy burgers and chips, street food caterers are now able to offer an impressive range of delicious street food options including cuisine from all over the globe, helping corporate events to keep up with the competition and stay bang on trend.

Give peas a chance
The number of vegans and vegetarians in the UK is continuing to soar. In fact the UK meat-free market is expected to grow from £559 million in 2016 to £658 million in 2021. It’s therefore absolutely essential that corporate events are able to provide exciting meat-free options – a mushroom risotto simply won’t cut the mustard any more. By drawing inspiration from cultures all over the world, street food vendors are able to offer a tantalising range of meat-free options for guests alongside gluten-free, halal, kosher and even ‘healthy foods’ such as wholegrain, superfoods and low fat or low calorie.

Cake it easy
Street food-style catering enables events to offer a more informal, sociable approach to dining. When KERB cater events at Troxy they offer organisers the option to have several pop-up restaurants for guests to pick up their food from. This new approach is ideal for networking events rather than restricting diners to their set table.

KERB appeal
Street food favourite KERB launched back in 2012 at King’s Cross. KERB seek out the most exciting street food talent, incubating them and bringing them together to help progress the dynamic but previously disorganised street food portion of the catering industry. They recently won Best Event Caterer at The London Catering Awards 2019!

This year KERB have provided catering for a number of events hosted at Troxy including the UK Hospitality Bar and Nightclub conference and Dusk ‘til Dawn late night awards and the Food Made Good awards. In December they’ll be providing a feast at the UK Festival Awards.

Alana Buckley, the fabulous Commercial Director of KERB commented “We are lucky to get to work on so many exciting events at Troxy, with clients that are constantly looking to provide forward thinking catering solutions. KERB’s unique offer which has London’s most innovative street food traders at its heart and includes conferences, drinks receptions and seated dinners, provides this point of difference these clients and helps to set their events apart.”
