The first edition of SXSW London had it all from amazing talks, activations and screenings to mind-blowing performances. Troxy was home to the biggest gig on the bill for this European first, hosting Billboard’s The Stage for a sold out intimate performance with multi-award winning Grammy superstar Tems.
The Standard said “While Beyoncé was across town at the Tottenham Stadium in a huge spectacular, here Tems strutted like a superstar but always remained in touching distance of the fans who sang every word back at her and screamed at her every slow turn.” We felt every beat from spine-tingling vocals to commanding presence.
Amantle Brown opened the night, flying the Botswana flag high, LULU brought the crowd together ready for TEMs, The Stage celebrated upcoming artists and championed African music on a global scale. This was more than a gig, it was the start of a new movement in East London.
