In 2019 we began working with the awesome charity War Child and over the last year, we’ve raised £6500 through guestlist donations and team activities to kick us off!
The charity partnership was a natural fit for Troxy. War Child has many links across the music and media industries and we’re honoured to be one of them, as one of the UK’s last remaining independent music venues of our size.
The donations from Troxy and ongoing partnership are so important as all the money raised goes towards emergency responses helping children whose lives have been torn apart by war. So we thought we’d highlight just some of the important projects they are currently working on:
- Reintegrating former child soldiers in the Central African Republic
- Protecting children from sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo
- Getting emergency food to the most vulnerable children in Yemen
- Standing up for child rights in juvenile justice in Afghanistan
- Providing post-trauma care for children fleeing Isis in Iraq.
We asked Richard Clarke, Head of Music and Events at War Child to give us a few words about working with us so far…
“We are delighted to be one of the charity partners of Troxy, we’re very proud to be working with such an important, independent venue. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved raising vital funds to help children cope with the devastating effects of war.
“We’ve worked closely with the music industry for over 25 years to change the lives of the children we work with and are really excited to be adding Troxy to the list.”
For 2020 we hope to smash last year’s total and keep those donations coming! But for now, we want to thank everyone who has contributed so far and got involved.
