Hybrid events have become increasingly popular over the years due to the pandemic. As we move forward and continue to get back to normalcy some wonder whether hybrid events will continue to stick around in the future.
We asked the general public what their thoughts were and the results were quite surprising…
Of those we asked, 52% believe hybrid events will no longer continue, 33% said they think they will and 15% couldn’t decide either way.
Interestingly, a higher number of people believe hybrid events will be short-lived. But why? Hybrid events do have a lot to offer, so we weighed up the pros and cons of hybrid vs in-person events….
Hybrid
Championing Accessibility
Firstly, hybrid events offer a level of convenience and flexibility that traditional in-person events simply cannot match. Attendees can choose to participate in-person or remotely, depending on their personal preferences and circumstances. This allows for a broader and more diverse audience, as people who may not have been able to attend in-person due to travel or scheduling conflicts can still participate virtually.
Increased audience participation
Hybrid events allow for increased engagement and interaction between attendees. Virtual components, such as chat rooms and live polls, can foster more meaningful conversations and connections among attendees, regardless of whether they are participating in-person or remotely.
Less overheads
Hybrid events often require less investment in terms of time and resources for organisers. They eliminate the need for expensive catering, and other logistical considerations that come with traditional events. Instead, organisers can focus on creating high-quality content and experiences that can be easily accessed both in-person and online.
In-person
Get Social
One of the most obvious advantages of an in-person event is the social aspect. Networking events just aren’t the same looking through a screen. In-person events encourage people to mingle and get chatting to one another. If you’re dialling in remotely, you may feel as though the screen limits your ability to strike up random conversations. In-person are an excellent way to network with peers, experts, and potential clients. These interactions can lead to new business opportunities, collaborations, and partnerships.
Create an atmosphere
One thing hybrid events tend to lack is a lot of atmosphere. In-person events generate a lot of excitement and energy which you just don’t get with hybrid events. It may be harder to create a memorable and impactful experience for attendees while most of them are sitting behind a screen.
Immersive Entertainment
In-person events provide a sensory experience that is difficult to replicate virtually. Attendees can experience live entertainment, taste new foods, and see new products up close, creating a more immersive experience.
