Customised Culinary Delights: The Power of Personalization in Catering with Seasoned Events

Seasoned is a leading event management company based right here in the big smoke. Founded in 2005, the company has grown to become one of the most respected and trusted names in the events industry, with a reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative and memorable events for clients across a range of sectors.

With a focus on quality, creativity and attention to detail, Seasoned has won numerous awards for its work, including the prestigious UK Event Awards, the Event Caterer of the Year award and the Wedding Caterer of the Year award. And guess what? They’ve come to join the Troxy catering fam!

We grabbed a brew and sat down with their events team to talk about custom-crafted catering, style of service and evolving technology in the events space.

So, tell us about how Seasoned events came to be?

We came to be 40 years ago when we spotted a need to supply chefs for events at short notice and started as a chef agency before then developing into Seasoned. The rest they say, is history! Today we are overseen by Colin Sayers who is professionally trained as a chef and has worked all over the world representing Britain in competitions and also as a private chef, before he decided to return back to the UK.

We’re really proud to remain an independent catering company, we love being able to call all the shots and make all of our own decisions. This means that we can be a lot more transparent with our team, and include them in the decision making process. Our team is so important to us and for that we pride ourselves on our staff retention. We have people in the team who have been working with us for over 20 years- it really feels like a family.

What new technologies can we get excited about in events?

At Seasoned we’re committed to sustainability and constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental impact; we know how big of a footprint catering can unfortunately leave. We’re excited by the direction electric vehicles are taking and think these will play a crucial role in the future of the catering industry going forwards.

By replacing traditional diesel-powered vans with electric alternatives, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and they provide a much quieter, smoother, and more efficient alternative which means we can transport food and equipment more quickly and with less disruption to local communities.

We see electric vehicles as a key part of our sustainable business strategy, and while the technology isn’t quite there yet, we’re excited to explore the possibilities they offer for the future of catering when they’re ready!

What trends are you seeing in the event catering industry?

Personalisation is becoming a key trend right now as clients seek to create unique and memorable experiences for their guests. We understand the importance of tailoring our catering services to the specific needs and preferences of each client, which is why we like getting to know our clients so that we can provide them with a fully customised menu.

Whether that’s creating a ‘fusion-style’ menu which brings together tastes and flavours from different cultures or including ingredients that have a special meaning to them. We think personalising our menus is as important as cooking the food right itself! Clients will always remember the dish you created for them that reminded them of their home, or an ingredient that was used in their Grandmother’s cooking! It just means we get to have fun in our kitchens, experiment with flavours and provide our clients with dishes that they will enjoy.

Away from the dishes themselves we also offer customised themed décor and table settings to go with the look and feel of the menus.

Have you noticed anything different in the way food is presented or styled?

Sit down meals we feel will always be the go-to for events, however street food style along with smaller bites that people can walk around with and mingle are becoming more popular. One thing that we’re also noticing is that sharing platters and dessert stations are making a comeback. These were obviously a no-go throughout Covid so it’s really great to see them being incorporated back into events. Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board or station of dessert?!
