Moving Venue Caterers is a leading London-based catering company dedicated to curating exceptional culinary experiences for a diverse range of events. With a passion for innovation, quality and impeccable service, Moving Venue has been a trusted name in the catering industry for almost four decades.
Having worked with us since 2016, we are super happy they’ve decided to sign another five year contract with us to continue being one of our accredited caterers. We recently sat down with the team to find out how they are revolutionising events with their eco-friendly initiatives and delectable food stations.
So, tell us a little bit about Moving Venue?
We’ve been established as a business since 1984 and having joined the Smart Group in 2015, have gone from strength to strength. We are accredited at almost 50 venues across London and we are well known for catering large-scale and logistically challenging events. We are also well known for our Christmas parties and being able to consistently deliver up to 7 spectacular events a night during our busy December season!
WOW, that’s a lot of events! How do you keep your carbon footprint in check?
At the core of our business philosophy lies the belief that every decision we make should lead to a positive impact; this drives our commitment to sustainability and education.
Our vision extends beyond individual events; we are dedicated to fostering a more sustainable events and hospitality industry at large. To achieve this, we have set ambitious targets for ourselves. We pledge to reduce our carbon emissions by 5% annually, work towards attaining carbon-neutral status by 2030, and ultimately strive for net-zero emissions by 2050. Our approach revolves around the principle of ‘reduce, measure, and offset,’ which forms the backbone of our sustainability policy.
To reinforce our dedication to making a positive impact, we recently introduced a transformative initiative called B1G1.
As part of our sustainability efforts, we have implemented a discretionary Green Levy charge of 50p per guest, which is added to each quote. This charge serves a meaningful purpose – it allows our clients to contribute towards offsetting the carbon emissions associated with their events. The proceeds from this program are then directed towards supporting various global causes through B1G1, an impactful giving movement that encompasses both local and global initiatives. Our clients can witness the tangible impacts of their contributions through a live dashboard accessible on our website.
We see you call yourselves the OG caterers..how so?
There’s no denying that we’ve been a prominent figure on the catering scene for quite some time and not long after our establishment, we had the privilege of catering one of the first ever event at the prestigious Natural History Museum, setting a standard for the exceptional events that would soon follow.
Throughout our journey, we have had the opportunity to work in numerous unique venues, many of which are Grade-II listed buildings. This association has become somewhat of a hallmark for us, and we take great pride in delivering our services in such extraordinary and iconic settings like Troxy!
Our values are at the core of everything we do, and we believe they align with what everyone would expect from a reputable catering company. However, what sets us apart is our ability to elevate these values and take our clients’ events to a whole new level. We thrive on bringing our services into the present day, combining tradition with innovation, and creating unforgettable experiences for our clients and their guests.
What trends are you seeing in the catering industry right now?
The revival of food station-style service and sharing platters took us by surprise, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. Like many caterers, we believed these food styles were a thing of the past. However, we are delighted that they have made a comeback!
As experienced caterers, we are no stranger to the concept of food stations and have become well known for creating impactful and delicious food station offerings that look just as spectacular as they taste. Back in 2018 we were well-known for our ‘Mashtini’ stations. Simple but effective, guests had the opportunity to build their own bowl with a variety of mashes to choose from and a selection of toppings to add on top. Who doesn’t love mash?!
We’ve recently developed a new menu of interactive food stations including a ‘salmon carving’ station where our chefs carve a selection of Forman’s* cured salmon in a variety of flavours like beetroot, gin and herb crusting, and treacle, all served with a selection of toppings to compliment.
We’re also so excited to launch our new burrata station in September which we think will be super popular!
*The Forman family has been curing and smoking fish in the East End of London since 1905.
What’s next for Moving Venue?
This year, our 40th, is set to be a very busy as we aim to continue to innovate and lead the charge in developing sustainable catering, whilst remaining at the forefront of quality catering and logistical delivery of events!
Here’s to another 40 fantastic years!
