The newest member of the Troxy tribe is our Office & Corporate Sales Assistant Karin Buic Jovicic. We sat down with Karin to see how she’s finding venue life…
Tell us a bit about your background and when you joined Troxy…
I first joined Troxy over a year ago as part of the bar team/supervisor which I loved. I really enjoyed working in front of the house! The team is amazing and there are so many fun events happening all the time. It’s always fun having a little chat with the guests as well, especially at events that have an amazing atmosphere overall. After a year on the bar team, I moved into my new role of the office & corporate sales assistant.
What does your day-to-day look like?
I make sure the office is all set up for the day and support our management team with anything they might need throughout the workday. Basically, I do a little bit of everything: admin, customer service, odd jobs here and there… so no day is ever the same! The great thing is I get to learn from everyone on the team. The job keeps me on my toes and that’s what’s so exciting about it.
I also handle the enquiries from our guests and clients as well. if someone is coming to Troxy for a show and has any questions about entry policies, tickets, queuing, transport… I’m their go-to person! I know first-hand how exciting it is going to see your favorite artist perform, and now know how much work concert preparations can be. That’s why I find it so rewarding helping our guests have the best experience possible.
Any standout events for you so far?
Absolutely! Black Veil Brides were one of my personal favorites (I first found out about Troxy – and applied to join the team – when BVB announced their concert here). Trixie and Katya’s live podcast (the bald and the beautiful) was another great one. They are my all-time favorite drag queens so I was super excited to see them live, and they did not disappoint! The Buttmitzvah club nights are always amazing too, great music, fantastic atmosphere, and the best crowd ever – easily my favorite events I’ve worked so far at Troxy.
What are you up to outside of work?
I’m a huge fan of live shows! I love going to concerts, plays, dance performances… any sort of live events really. Other than that, I like staying at home re-watching my favorite TV shows.
What are your 3 desert island discs?
Would it be too much to pick 3 fall out boy albums? maybe a little haha. I’ll say ‘From under the cork tree’ & ‘Folie à deux’ by Fall Out, and Knjiga žalbe by Hladno Pivo (an amazing Croatian band, I’ve been a fan of theirs since I was a kid)
What’s next for you at Troxy?
I’m excited to keep learning new things! I get to work with some amazing people and I want to learn as much as I can from them. I’m also looking forward to becoming more involved in the corporate sales side of the job and helping put on some of the fabulous corporate events we host at Troxy.
