Tuppini joins team Troxy!

Let’s give a nice big Troxy welcome to Millie Tuppini, our new Head of Sales! We managed to sit down with her for 10 minutes to find out the important facts i.e. her drink order and how she’d escape from King Kong….

Tell us about yourself!
Born and bred in Tassie, I went to uni in Sydney and studied Tourism. From there I worked in business development for a hotel doing a mix of events and sales. I decided the hotel life wasn’t for me and went travelling around Europe for four months and when I’d had enough of backpacking I moved to London. I was lucky enough to get a job at The Brewery, working my way up to a Senior Event Sales Manager including whole venue takeovers and doing everything to 1000+ pax conferences, summer and Christmas parties, awards dinners and specialty showcase events. After four years, I was ready for a new challenge and Troxy seemed like a great fit.

What are you most excited about working on at Troxy?
I’m so excited to work at Troxy, I love all the live music but I’m most excited about the opportunity to grow the corporate client base. It’s amazing that it’s a heritage listed venue but there isn’t anything I’ve heard yet that they will say no to (I really want to see some acrobats hanging from the ceiling!). I love how quirky and different it is as a venue.

What do you love about working in events?
I love that every day brings something different. No two events are the same and my clients are always coming up with new ways to make their events different. I get a kick out of being presented with an idea that seems impossible and coming up with a way to make it happen.

Your best gig of all time?
That’s a really tough question! It’s probably Daryl Braithwaite at the Falls Festival. He’s an Australian rocker from the 70s and his song ‘Horses’ is an unofficial Australian Anthem so singing it in a massive crowd was pretty memorable.

Best thing about living in London?
How easy it is to travel to the rest of Europe, I also love that it’s a legitimate excuse to finish early to go to the pub because the sun is shining.

Fave place to eat in London?
Nutshell, in Covent Garden has great Iranian food, but I also love Cook Daily for takeaway in London Fields, it’s 100% vegan and sooo tasty!

What’s your drink of choice?
Again, tough question! Late night it’s a tequila old fashioned, but I can’t go past an ice cold beer or an Aperol Spritz if the sun’s out.

As Troxy used to be a cinema…what was the last film you saw? And what’s your fave film?
Last film I saw was Hobbs and Shaw, which my brother dragged me along to but not before making me watch a marathon of all the other the Fast and the Furious movies first!

The whole of the Harry Potter films are my favourites, don’t ask me to pick just one, it would be like asking a mother to pick her favourite child.

You’re being chased by King Kong…how would you try and escape his clutches?
I would probably tickle him to escape, and then bribe him with bananas so we could be best friends, after an hour we would be braiding each other’s hair and painting our nails.
