The Troxy team showed that they can efficiently turn round events at short notice when Channel 4 chose the venue for a live political debate which went out during the flagship 7pm news programme.
The debate over the merits and perils of a No-Deal Brexit was chaired by news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy and featured a panel of politicians debating in front of a 100-strong studio audience.
Having been present in London’s East End since the 1930s, surviving many threats over the years – not least the devastation of The Blitz during WWII – Troxy was the perfect venue for a debate about one of the biggest milestones in British history.
As well as the normal challenges that come with hosting a live TV broadcast, the Channel 4 debate was arranged with a very quick turnaround. Fortunately the TV production teams were able to work well with the Troxy events staff to ensure the everything went smoothly.
The stage area was altered to accommodate a custom-built tiered seating structure, allowing the audience to be level with the presenter and panel. The spacious main stage area was fitted with large screens featuring Channel 4 branding which were used as a backdrop to the action.
