Electronic dance pioneers Four Tet, Fred Again..+ Skrillex surprised fans with a last minute show at Troxy

Troxy was chosen as the final venue to host a run of three exclusive London performances from Four Tet, Fred Again..+ Skrillex, who performed a surprise show on Saturday 7th January.

Produced by Eat Your Own Ears, the gigs followed the release of the Fred Again..,Flowdan and Skrillex much-hyped collaborative track “Rumble” earlier in the week.

The last minute show announcement followed two other surprise London gigs which took place at Electric Ballroom Camden and Electric Brixton on Thursday and Friday of the same week respectively. All shows had tickets released on the day and sold out within minutes.

Troxy was the largest independent venue to host the dance trio with tickets being released in staggered announcements on the artist’s Instagram stories throughout the day. Over 20,000 fans tried to grab tickets on the first two announcements alone and over 9,000 users were on a waiting list as soon as the final announcement went live.

An extended stage platform was built from Troxy’s main stage which enabled the DJs to perform from a central location in the midst of the crowd. The production fully utilised Troxy’s extensive in-house equipment and included theatrical glitter ball and laser lighting displays.

The atmosphere was electric all night long with additional equipment brought in to enable the filming of the official music video for “Rumble”, taking advantage of the high production value. Flowdan also made an additional surprise appearance, emerging from the audience and joining Skrillex, Four Tet and Fred Again.. on stage to perform the lyrics.

A few famous faces graced the stage behind the Djs including Dua Lipa and there was unrivalled energy in the room from start to finish. The trio played an eclectic and impressive set with tracks mixed to all different types of genres with the crowd joining in with the original songs.

Simon Eaton, Head of Live at Troxy:

“What a way to kick start 2023! As an independent venue it’s great to see such high calibre artists choosing to support other indie venues for gigs that really are all about the fans. We really believe in the arts bringing people together and it starts with the types of events we host, and what an absolute banger to set the tone for the rest of the year!”.
